2003 Lincoln Navigator Engine Shaking and I Smell Fuel

My 2003 Lincoln Navigator V8 5.4 Engine Shaking and I Smell Fuel upon start up and through duration on driving. When pressing on brake or come to a stop "Check Charging System" message appears as well as engine light comes on. Can any one tell me what could possibly be the issue ....or issues? Thank you.
