My preferred aid for navigating the suburbs is aggressive looks while driving a vehicle with at least one dent already present, to let the other drivers know you're not afraid of an impact. The older/rattier the vehicle the better, to let the other person know that they stand to lose more than you do. Ideally, you want a large, older vehicle (such as a pickup or Suburban) with multiple colors (door red, hood black, body, white, tailgate blue, etc.) to make them worry that the vehicle may be a salvage vehicle without insurance. Bullet holes & cracked windows are not to be treated as over-kill. Also, smoking engines, dripping fluids, lack of a full exhaust, absence of a muffler, mismatched tires, and possibly an unidentified grinding noise (possibly bad brakes? better not tailgate...) are a plus.
