I do wish they would make more small(ish) cars that had the ride and sound deadening to handle long drives comfortably. I guess that isn't typically something that people pick up on during a test drive so the payback from the investment might be low but I don't want a big car and I don't really need 'luxury' I just want comfortable and yet still fun. I'd even trade a few fancy gadgets for a car that is good for a full day of driving but isn't huge.
+1 on Zim's comments. I enjoy a smaller car because I don't need lots of space, but the small car has got to offer an engaging drive and satisfying creature comforts. The German automakers have long understood that "small" does not have to equal "cheap".
