Counterpoint: hard plastic is more resistant to wear, which is important when you rest your arm on the window sill.

Our explorer police cars have that same door panel with the soft tops. We ride with arms on there all the time and the tops have all pulled back. Not very robust.

Under $25k for an Ecoboost, orange exterior, black interior, black wheels, 6 speed automatic. This is the one I'd buy. Hard plastic is fine as frogs hair for my usage. Durable and easy to clean. 435 HP of the V8 would be nice to have, I'll "settle" for 310 HP of the four.

For me the GT Premium is as low down the food chain as I'm willing to go. I have to have the V8; my MS3 with a mild tune is already quicker than the EcoBoost. As for the base interior, the '80s called, and a Hyundai Excel wants its upholstery back.

I thought you could get the Premier Trim in black as well as the red. Seems like that would solve your concerns on both counts.

Looks just like the upper door panels of the 06-12 Fusion.
