2005 Jetta stuttering, rough idle

Car started shuddering a little this morning, engine came on for a few seconds then went off. Idled quite roughly at red lights and I was concerned that it might stall. Thankfully it didn't, but I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas what it might be?
