    And yes, minivans are cool, especially a true minivan such as a Mazda5! The current "minivans" are as large of Chevrolet Astros, GMC Safaris and Ford Aerostars of yore--or larger!

    Correct me if I'm wrong but your hypothetical three passengers could also fit their bikes back there as well.

    And that's not even a particularly space-efficient way to load a bike...I think my road bike will fit behind the THIRD row, with the front wheel removed and standing upright, crossways. Minivans are the best for hauling this kind of stuff...a new Suburban weighs 5,550 lbs. and has 121 cubic feet inside...a new Sienna weighs 4,350 and has 150 cu. ft., plus the liftover height is about a foot lower than the SUV.
