I was wondering if someone could help me out with a comparison. I have a 2007 Acura mdx with 133,000 miles and I am thinking about getting a grand caravan sxt. I am looking at longevity with both vehicles. My Acura is still in good shape but not sure if I should keep it another year, and if so is it worth loosing the trade in value I could get compared if I trade it in now. Thoughts anyone? Thanks

I likes sliders so I'm a bit biased. We picked up a 2009 Grand Caravan SXT last year for a move when our '99 Quest mostly gave up the ghost (the AC dying was the final straw, but we got to 200,000 on it).

The current van had 125,000 miles when we got it and it's around 157,000 now and seems to run well. So that's a thumbs up from me on trading to the Dodge.

That said, you could easily expect another year or more of good service out of the MDX. I pushed our Quest a bit too far, but 175,000 miles is a good sweet spot to aim for.

It's hard to say how much more your MDX will depreciate at this point. Probably not as much as a few car payments if you buy new.

So, go with your gut. Either decision will probably work out fine.
