2013 Compass struggles to start

The engine turns over when the key is turned in the ignition, it does start when you just quickly turn the key in the ignition, it's very sensitive. The remote start recently stopped working also. At first I thought it was the battery or alternator (haven't tested these yet to confirm) but it seems like it might just be the ignition itself. Is this a common problem? Thoughts?
