Content Theft malfunctioning

Hi - I am new here, but was looking if anyone has had a problem with the content theft system of their Olds Bravada. I am not sure if it is the same system on the Blazers and Jimmys. When I open the door and exit the vehicle, and press the door locks after I shut the drivers door, the content theft system should not be armed. But when I look in the vehicle the security light is flashing, then within 5 to 10 minutes the panic alarm goes off like someone is trying to break into the car.
When I arm the system properly, it seem to work fine.
Any suggestions?
