Over the last 2 days, I have a weird issue with my 2013 Forester. When I turn the car off and remove the key I get a beeping like the alarm system and lock system engaged but the doors do not lovk nor is the alarm activated. Anyone know what this means? The car and security system work fine. No burnt out head or taillight and doors are fully closed.

Hello! could be a number of things, but before going to a dealer, the appointment, the waiting and so forth, I would try disabling the the beep system and rearming it, that might clear the hiccup in it. The procedure is listed below, rearm by running the same procedure again. Is also listed in the owners manual. Good luck.

    1. Sit in the driver’s seat and shut all doors and the rear gate.
    2. Press the “UNLOCK” power door lock switch.
    3. Insert the key into the ignition switch.
    4. Hold down the “UNLOCK” switch, pull the key out and re-insert it into the ignition switch at least 5 times within 10 seconds after performing step 2.
    5. Open and close the driver’s door within 10 seconds after performing step 4.
    6. When completed the turn signal lights flash

    Hi,

I am having the same problem. I tried the steps above but there was not flashing of the signal lights after multiple attempts at the process. Any other suggestions?
