Fiat-Chrysler Slapped With $70-Million Fine for Failure To Report Safety Problems | Edmunds.com

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration slapped a $70-million fine on Fiat-Chrysler on Thursday for "failure to report legally required safety data" in its vehicles.

NHTSA said the fine was levied for the under-reporting of vehicle crashes, deaths and injuries tied to Fiat-Chrysler vehicles.

    $7o million is no joke. I don't understand how such a large fine can just be "slapped on". Burns my mind to witness these massive fines. People bust their [non-permissible content removed] day in and day out from 9 - 5 to make a fair living, and here a major manufacturer can be stripped of so much money "just like that".
