Shift Lock Indicator light

My daughter has been driving her new to her Jetta and the Shift Lock indicator light came on. She let it sit for 2 light rotations and then restarted her vehicle. I'm not sure if it is her driving or if it was an issue with the Jetta. has anyone else had an issue like this in the past??? Thanks
