That mileage is really terrible for a car like this even if you are driving it hard. It's getting the EPA city rating as its lifetime average. Sure its got a six-cylinder turbo making 320 hp but it also has an eight-speed transmission and Start/Stop system (which might be always off) 20.9 would is a disappointment for a car whose primary use is as a commuter car.

Gas mileage doesn't concern me at all; the lifeless steering is the deal-breaker for me.

Its has to be LA & edmunds drivers. my m235 driven in the burbs (not actually city driving) is averaging ~24mpg, even now with blizzaks.

I have commented on MPG here before, but after 7,800 miles at 6,500 feet ASL I still get around 27 combined lifetime driving. I am currently on crappy Rocky Mountain winter premium gas (typically carpooling with a passenger too) and still pull similar results. I too, have winter tires right now (Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4).

I think my worse was around 24 and my best was 32 at fill ups since March 2015.

guys that are seeing 24 or 27 average mpg how are you calculating?

miles driven divided by gallons pumped in will give you the true answer.

the dashboard mpg average overshoots reality on every vehicle i've ever tried

Option #1, yes the on board computer is over zealous by about 3 mpg.

Went to get my log book outside....last fill up I drove 336 miles, filled tank with 13 gallons = 25.85 mpg. That is on winter tires and 91 octane winter gas at 6,500 ASL. My commute is 22 miles each way in stop and go (I-25) and the rest is residential/suburban driving with 30-45 mph average usually with a minimum of one passenger; sometimes four if I have my two kids in the back seat.

According to my logbook, my best was in August @ 367 miles with a 13.5 gallon fillup (tank is only 13.7 gallons supposedly) which is 27.2 mpg. That was on OEM tires and the roof down a lot.

logging, but my trip computer is within .5 mpg

    301 miles 11.49 gal = 26.2mps
190 miles 10.xx gal = 19mpg (most of these trips were ~2 miles long)
220 miles 11.8 gal = 18.6mpg (most of these trips were ~2 miles long)
    275 miles 11.3 gal =24.3mpg
    winter tire:
    273 miles 11.55 gal = 23.6mpg
    272 miles 11.14 gal =24.4mpg
    225 miles 9.68 gal = 23.2mpg

average = 22.8mpg. But thats missing ~1000 miles of records.

If I get rid of the 2 records where I drove nothing but 2 mile trips, my average is 24.4. Trip computer from day one says 23.7mpg
