The light-mileage months were due to the fact that very few people there like this vehicle. That's why driving it required "stepping up to the plate."

The mpg you are getting is less than that for the Acura TLX, a vehicle that also has AWD, weighs more and has over 100 extra horsepower.

I suspect A) heavy vehicle for its size, B) underpowered, with an engine that is possibly making even less than its modest rating, C) lots of driveline friction losses, D) horrible aerodynamics.

I was getting 26+ out of my 2007 Forester with the truly awful 4EAT 8 years ago, it it was bigger than the Renegade.

Its the Tigerguppy.....even with the Fiat valvetrain help it's still a turd. Sergio is busy spending every dime Jeep and Ram makes on keeping Fiat afloat.

@longtimelurker The Jeep was in the shop for weeks. The same thing happened with our TLX after it was damaged. I'll agree with you about the bad MPG though - modest HP, bad aero certainly affects things.

If gas was at 2012 prices you guys would be screaming. I agree with nagant's "turd" label. My 4400-lb minivan got 25 mpg once, but usually 23 highway.
