Audi A3 sedan 2016 vs Nissan Maxima 2016

Hey guys. It's my first time posting here so please let me know if this is the wrong spot to put this.

At any rate, I was looking into getting an entry level luxury mid-sized sedan. I ran across these two models browsing Edmunds. The thing I can't put my finger on is that the Audi has a higher rating here on Edmunds but from looking at the specs, Nissan is better in almost every way (higher torque, horsepower, more spacious, etc). That said, I've read the in depth reviews on this site but I can't find the discrepancy that would cause the Nissan to have a lower rating.

Is there anyone who owns either of these cars and can speak from experience which would be a better car?

Thanks ahead of time.

Edmunds recently tested the A3, liked it:

The Maxima is quite a bit bigger, I'd look at a Mazda 6 instead (not a fan of CVTs).

The Nissan has cheaper parts, construction, and assembly, the suspension is likely soft compared to the  Audi, and the Audi is much lighter which improves everything, bigger isnt always better.
