I think when you do fuel economy on a truck, it would be nice to know how many miles or tanks or % of something were done hauling something or towing. 18.2 mpg or 9% off its combined rating doesn't sound too bad with as much work and towing it seemed like you threw at the Colorado, and the fact that you were actually able to achieve its HWY rating

I own a Colorado just like this model except mine has the long box. I agree with pretty much all the critiques listed above.
Comfortable ride for a truck. Does everything well without being spectacular in any one area. Definitely a solid competitor & viable option for those that aren't interested in or don't require the benefits of a full size rig.

This is still high on my list of possibilities for my next vehicle. Off road prowess isn't important for me - I'm a lot more likely to use its towing ability than any serious off-roading. An occasional dirt or gravel road maybe, but certainly no rock crawling. I've never had a truck, but have wanted one for some time and at this point actually could use one semi-regularly - but I don't need the additional size, capability, or cost of a full size. I know someone who has the same model and has gotten over 25 mpg on several highway trips, and regularly averages more than 20 mpg per tank (he's not towing anything or hauling max cargo most of the time), so it doesn't seem like the EPA estimates are impossibly elusive. The Tacoma is a good, maybe even great truck, but my impression is this Chevy and the "new" Taco will trade pros and cons and the "best" will really depend on which attributes are more important to an individual buyer.

I do agree though the V6 in the Colorado doesn't sound good, and the interior storage situation should be better. Too bad GM doesn't make the 4.8 V8 in the current generation small block, that might have been awesome here. I guess the diesel somewhat fills that spot, but still... I'd love to have some V8 music with this truck.
