"With a ridiculous 35-gallon gas tank, we only had to fill up for gas once, ranging more than 600 miles and averaging about 19 mpg. "

    It's a 36 gallon tank.

Same thing happened to me in Massachusetts. Attendant comes up to pump gas but I was like back off man thinking he was just some transient. I'll keep my Texas self pumps thank you.

    >Long-distance driving is never fun

Those are the best kind of trips, especially with your loved one along for the ride - sounds like you had to be in too much of a hurry to enjoy it.

so big truck loaded down, with mpgs close to that of the tiny renegade. While the fords mpg's dont live up to hype. The jeep is just a turd.

The Renegade is a neat package ruined by a terrible engine with not enough low end torque and a transmission with too many gears that needs an engine with good low end torque. FCA spent a ton of money on low volume Hellcat engines at the expense of a modern high volume four. FCA CANT increase Hellcat volume too much because of EPA Fleet MPGs already being the worst for US producers of cars.

Ford is a well run company filled with smart, hard working execs to go with smart and hard working engineers. FCA has plenty of smart engineers and true believers but it is run by SM that is only concerned with keeping Fiat Europe alive. Big difference.
