I thought it looked really handsome, and it's an awesome road trip car, but it has lost that edge that catapulted it over the Altima in sales a few years ago

Hopefully Hyundai will manage the fallout from the prematurely failing engines in their 2011-2013 cars. Many of those owners have sworn off buying another Hyundai product.

Hopefully, indeed. At least the Hyundai side addressed the situation, added some warranty time and replaced the engine. That same engine is in the Optima, mine failed at 44K/36 months, Kia still won't own the problem. They'll replace with a refurb piece of junk off the same defective line with no additional warranty protection. Hyundai is clueless if they think a "Facelift" is the cure for what ails them.

I have one of these ticking time bombs (2011 sonata). It is debatable how well they have addressed the situation. The test was a mickey-mouse sound test with a magic laptop performed under sterile conditions. Mine passed and they also increased the oil level in the engine (new dipstick). What hasn't been discussed is the $1500 drop in value for my car. Yes, the warranty has been extended by 20000 miles from 100k to 120k. How Kia is getting away with what they are doing is astounding...

The regional warranty rep actually told me to go ahead and sue them. Really the only way to hold them accountable is to spread the word that "America's Best Warranty", and the product it covers, is garbage. If I can talk just two people out of buying, it will cost them more than it would have to put a new engine in my car. When I turn it in at the end of this lease, I will be sharing my story at the dealership with anyone who will listen.

Now, what to replace it with...

Wow. After reading those comments, I might be cured of wanting a Sonata Limited w/ panorama SR.

Me too... I was seriously considering Limited with panoramic. I would rather spend 2k more and get an Accord.
