$300 per month 2014 Toyota Prius $17,000 - good deal?

Hey all, sorry I'm such a noob at all of this but I just want to know if this is a good deal. It's used, it used to be a car rental and now has 45,000 miles, but was never smoked in nor has ever deployed the air bags, etc. It seems in good condition but again, I don't really know much about this stuff. The APR is 5% and we're buying it in Maryland.

What do you guys think about this kind of deal right now? Is $300 per month too much?

    You can appraise it here. Get the selling price "right" first, and then worry about the payments. If you just focus on the payment, the dealer can hide all sorts of fees in the payment. Pay attention to the out the door cost. See Dealership Don'ts.

    Ask your bank or credit union to give you a quote on the loan. If they are cheaper than the dealer, let the dealer know. Chances are the dealer can beat the bank rate, but you need to let them know you're shopping around for the best rate.
