Lexus LF-C? Details??

edited March 2014 in Lexus
I've only just recently heard of the Lexus "LF-C" concept to appear at New York. Does anyone know any actual details about this car? Is it a pre-production prototype like the LF-S? Or just an idea? If the "sports coupe" is the convertible SC430, than what would a coupe be?

The LF-C being introduced today at the NY auto show is a hint of the styling direction of the next generation IS. Supposedly the next IS is to come in sedan, coupe, and convertible.

I finally saw some pictures, the rear is just... really odd. I hope that hits the cutting room floor. Otherwise thats cool, the Altezza is definitely in need of a replacement.

The side profile and front is great! The only thing I don't like is the tailights.

It's about time Lexus stepped up to the plate to challenge the Saab/Volvo/BMW/MB efforts. The concept and images are right on target - I'd put a deposit down tomorrow if I could!

But I think Lexus LF-C is more realistic n cool too.

Does any know if it's gonna be priced as same as the SC430(when it does go into production)?
SC430 is nice but when I set in it, it not my car and not enough HP for a V8.

hey wait a minute?!? what ever happened to the rod millen b.s. about the lexus is430? did that project got scratched? but anyway the LF-C looks good. its about time they stepped up, the LF-C will have a V-8. with that and some other tweaks the new generation IS will steal the market from the german auto industry. at first i thought the IS will look similar to the new GS430 or the RX330.

LF-C is a concept car, not a production model. The next IS is reportedly going to be based on the platform, and it is intended to show the direction of future Lexus family styling.

At this time, Toyota has said that a V8 is not in the cards for the '06 IS intro, but given that it will share drive components with the GS, my personal speculation is that there will be a high-performance version (a la AMG or M) with a V8 by '08, if not '07. Toyota has many times now hinted at the creation of a skunkworks for exactly such Euro-competitive projects.

Millen's IS430 was a one-shot project car. To bring it to market in the current platform would require substantial retrofitting to add the GS's driveline, brakes, etc. Hard to make a business case for it in the face of rapidly declining sales (due to a new upcoming release) on the existing platform.

That's just a reword of the old press release, it looks like.

Still refers to it as a concept with indications of thing to come, not an actual available model.

There may likely be nearly as much difference as there is between the LF-S and the actual new GS (talk about disappointment)!

I'm reserving judgement on the GS until it actually hits the streets. I'm hoping that they make it a serious, tightly wound sports sedan, but I think it may end up losing handling tests to M and RL.

Hopefully time that would've been spent on developing a MORE powerful engine would have been used on improving all other aspects of the car.

    Yeah, I know:

    March 2005: 2006 GS
    August 2005: 2006 IS
    May 2006: 2007 ES
    October 2006: 2007 LS

And don't forget about the 100k+ super car which Toyota is building.

    like the Volta?

And Lexus is going to have a flasgship above the LS. The Crown Majesta looks like it got its cues from the maybach...

There are also rumors that the next Toyota Supra could be a Lexus.

The Lexus LF-A will never be a Supra, if you ask me. True supras used an inline 6 with turbo (twin turbo =)), and this has been since the MkII.... so to call a car with a V-10 engine, and a car that is a Lexus, would be BLASPHEMY to me :p. There may be a chance that this car COULD be a hardtop SC, like the ones during the Supra era... or maybe Lexus will make a new model line... anyways, about the LF-C, I think that it wont come out the way it is now, there will be a bunch of tweaks before they release it, as said by wale_bate1, it is probably just a sign of things to come.

says here the LF-C spawned the new IS
  • frankwhitefrankwhite Member Posts: 4
    Here I go
LF-C is 911 size with a much larger wheelbase.
It is F-1 influenced, so the engine will be determined by F-1 rules (currently V-10 but V-8 may change)
    Hybrid is also a possiblity
It is not related to any Lexus or Supra. It is a new platform.
Price is 120k plus. Think Gallardo and F430 performance for less and more luxury.

You're thinking of the LF-A that was recently introduced.

The LF-C was introduced last year on the auto show circuit. It was the coupe with the folding hardtop.
