14 Nissan Versa Note Active Grille Shutter

I am hoping someone can give me some advice.

I have a 2014 Nissan Versa Note under warranty.

I have a check engine light, unburnt exhaust fumes in the car, and the engine is revving high on the highway because the CVT is not lowering the velocity. The service manager at the dealer states that the problem is related to a failed active grille shutter, and quoted me a price of nearly $700 to fix it.

The warranty company won't cover the part because they claim it is a body part. In my thinking, the part is part of the emission control system if I am getting fuel vapors inside the vehicle and it also affects the transmission and CPU (check engine light).

Now my next thought is filing a damage claim with my comprehensive insurance coverage if it is truly a body part (with a $250 deductible no less). There is very little information online, and I cannot even locate the part in a parts store.

Can anyone provide some thought on which way I should approach this?
