As many 300-400 mile day trips as I make, I could not have a car with range this poor. My Volvo even gets better economy on the highway than this to go with its larger fuel tank.

I have an idea for you guys: step into 21st century, and use a shared google spreadsheet (can use different tabs for each car) to enter the log through your smart phone. If you have editors w/o one, then put a tablet in the car.... Data entry problem - solved !

+1 Boloti, that's how my wife and I do our budget. No matter where we are at, we just pull it up on our phone and log what we spent!

Just as a point of comparison on economy and range, I drove a Rogue Select rental this past weekend. I averaged 30mpg across hundreds of miles of mostly highway driving, actually beating the car's EPA highway rating of 28, and my route included several +2,000' elevation changes, too! With that kind of fuel economy it was no sweat covering 350 miles between fillups.

I hope the wrap-up includes scathing commentary on this car's MPG and transmission. These are two constant themes that are dealbreakers for me.

I bet this long-term review experience would be much different if you'd gotten the base Renegade with 1.4 turbo and 6-speed stick.

The Dart with that engine was given back to Dodge before the end of the test. With a final drive of 4.4 and six speed manual trans, it would be a lot buzzier on the hwy and probably even slower. Around town might be better but hwy driving would probably be worse. The 1.4 auto might be the best of two poor choices in engines for the Renegade. At least the 1.4 has some low end tq so maybe the transmission would not hunt between gears all the time.
