ABS Problem?

Hi everyone!
We recently bought a 2003 Oldsmobile Silhouette. We love the van. However, when we first got the van, we noticed a motor sounding noise (like a compressor) coming from the back, every time we started the van. It would go off after about 15 seconds or so. When I looked it up, it said the ABS will run a test when you start it. So we assumed that was the noise we were hearing. We just had some work done because of a fuel problem (wires and connectors which corroded under the drivers side back seat. We had no problems (other than a separate power steering pump issue), going to work today, but when we got in the van to go home, the noise in the back started and never went off. It was the same loud, vibrating noise. What can this be?
