Dakota transmission problems

I have a 1989 dodge Dakota sport 4x4. my problem is the transmission is shifting hard when driving but smooth when at a standstill any ideas other than fluid levels

    I have a 2006 Dakota 4.7L 4x4. My transmission when cold works normally although I see my RPM gauge working oddly.... When the transmission warms up I feel a hard jolt and then my RPM's go up to around 2800 at 60 mph.... When I come to a complete stop it feels like the transmission slips and then does not shift into the others as it should.... Need help to trouble shoot issue
