Strong numbers still. That this powertrain is available in a non-performance compact car is remarkable. No fade from the brakes, not a given in Hondas.

Did I miss an explanation about why there are no more slalom tests on Edmunds? I find those more interesting than the skidpad, as the drivers get a sense of weight transition in alternating turns. Can't say I've ever gone round and round my local roundabout until the tires lose adhesion, but I do find myself on S curves now and then.

27k .... i remember when a civic SI was 22... 27k is WRX money. for Focus ST or close enough to a3 money. granted i'm sure the a3 would not have as many features but i'm also willing to bet you would get a better deal on a a3 than a honda considering VW's current state of affairs.

A stripper wrx. If you even remotely try to equip a wrx like this, you'll end up paying well over 35k.

A civic ex-t, which has the same numbers, is about 23-24k. It's not even close. Is there a case for a wrx? well yeah. Its awd and crazy quick. But the fact that we are comparing it to the NON performance civic is damning in the wrx's case, not the hondas.
