Lost Power while running

I have a 2006 Ranger with about 115K on the clock. After refueling, I made it about ten miles before the truck lost power. Originally, I thought it might be transmission problems (shifting was erratic going through the hills). Checked transmission fluid level (OK, no burnt smell), checked oil level (good, no water in oil), and checked coolant level (low, added water to proper level. Checked water pump for weeping, no leaking). Engine will start; it idles high, drops to regular level, misses badly, then goes back to high idle. When shifted into gear, RPM's will not go above 2500-3000 rpm, even with accelerator to the floor.

Any ideas?
