Audi Q7 vs Volvo XC90

My husband and I are in the market to upgrade to a larger, third row SUV. I keep going back and forth between the 2017 Q7 and 2016 XC90. I love the drive of the Audi as well as the interior, although at the top of our budget, I want to make sure this is going to be a reliable car. Consumer Reports says Audi is a top brand and cars are generally reliable but there isn't much information I can find on the Q7.

Thoughts/experience with either car?

I'm in the same situation. I love the drive and ride of the Q7. But the XC90 has more advanced safety features, especially w/ the 2017 semi-autonomous upgrades and slightly more functional for the family.

My heart is telling me to go w/ the Q7, but my brain leaning toward the XC90.

I was in the same dilemma. Ended up going with an XC90 after being an Audi customer for 10 years. Primary reasons were Audi didnt really give a hoot about loyalty and were very indifferent in trying to provide me a good deal on the car. The Q7 is a better car, but the XC90 is way more value for money. In the end I ended up paying as much for the XC90 as I would have for the Q7 so it wasnt about the price. You also should keep in mind how Volkswagen is as a corporate citizen and the way it screwed us all in the emissions scandal. Volvo just wants to make safer cars :). I went with the brain. However, no matter what you get in the end, I am sure you will be very happy.

in the same boat now ... XC90 vs Q7.

Q7 is safer bet i think as XC90 technology is still not that reliable it seems.

I am curious about skylanderbc's comment. First he/she says the Q7 is a better car. Then he/she says "I ended paying as much for the XC90" and"I went with the brain!"

Volvo is Chinese owned. China is hardly a good "corporate citizen."

Really, is any OEM a good "corporate citizen?"

If the Q7 is the better car, settling for a lesser car seems curious.

That's why almost every Q7 part is made everywhere else but Germany...Czech Republic, Romania, Slovenia, and even Mexico, because it's better than trust me, the original Volvo?! You must've been joking around..Rich chinese corporations poured billions to support the Volvo brand development, as well market and expand the company across the globe, but I guarantee you Volvo never sold their soul, their mission and especially their vision.
