tHANKS FOR THE PICTURES, CAN YOU SEND ME ONE THAT SHOWS THE CAPACITY OF THE TRUNK WITH THE ROOF UP (IE A SEDAN NOT A CONVERTIBLE). I GATHER YOU CAN ONLY STORE ITEMS UNDER THE GRAY PLASTIC BARRIER IS THAT SO, OR CAN ITEMS REST ON TOP OF THE BARRIER?
I'm glad to hear that you like the off-black interior on Black exterior. I ordered mine in those colors 2 months ago, with an expected November delivery. I have been second-guessing my color choice, thinking it might not be enough contrast or too hot. But, I'm glad to hear from you that "in-person" it's a great combo. Thanks for the reassurance.
Here is the picture with the roof up and the plastic cover protection in the trunk up. Thanks Volvomax to mention such a combination is possible. I did not try it, but I hope if you try to put the roof down, a message states that the plastic cover needs to be put in the down position first...
Roof up and plastic protection cover up. There is plenty of space in this trunck!
Volvomax: Do you know if a service bulletin has been put out yet on installing the foam in roof to keep the cables from rattling? If not, when do you think they will, as they were installing in some cars just off the ship a couple of months ago weren't they? I read it in this forum, but can't remember the date. My car was delivered in June and was manufactured in May of 2006.I do not see any foam in the roof. I hear some strange noise like rubbing sound with top up, but it disappears with top stored.
When the technician installed program to stop barking on my car, it worked fine. No barking now or cycling of vents as before. I asked him then about foam installation and he said he had not heard of that at the time he fixed my stained cover and noise problem.
If there is a bulletin on it, please advise and I will call my dealer and inform him. I am in Virginia. Thanks.
I do not have a picture of the cover with stains. The rubber bumpers we refer to are visible when the top is stored in trunk because the cover that is in back of rear seats is where the stains were deposited when top is up.(roof closed) With top stored in trunk and trunk lid open, look on inside of trunk lid and you will see two rubber bumpers about 1 inch in diameter and about one inch tall with hollow center where it rests on cover. They are black on my car. From this you can see where they are contacting the cover when stored when top is up and see exactly where they would make the round circles on cover if they are going to.
They said they had left a slight space between the cover and bumpers now instead of directly contacting the cover. They also put a soft and slick cloth tape over the bumpers. This kept bumpers from direct contact. If you do not find them from this description, I will try to get a picture of bumpers in trunk to post here. They are the only rubber bumpers on inside of truck lid, so you should find them OK.
The foam is in sheathing around the roof cables. I would be surprised if your car didn't have the cables as the C70 built without it were held in port to allow installation.
Thanks for the reply. I am thinking my car probably has the proper cables because the ship docked in Baltimore June 13th and was delivered to dealer on June 16th in Virginia. I believe it would have been held up if foam needed to be installed. tom007
Volvomax: To clarify, do all the 07's have both the insulated roof cables and the padded bumpers for the roof? Is this now standard on factory installation or are they fixing once they arrive at destination?
By computer a Volvo technician can change a lot of things on your car (setup). But if you ask him "like what?", he replies: "too much to mention". Does anybody has a list of these settings (or knows how to get one)?
The International Volvo website is now showing info on the 2008 C70, albeit not necessarily all applicable to the US.
If you go to www.volvocars.com, then click on "International Website", then on "Owners's Info", then on "Know Your Volvo", you can pick the model, and then choose between tabs for MY2007 and MY2008. They have downloadable quick guides and owners manuals for both years, as well as a series of video clips for the 2008. None of the 2008 info has trickled to the US site yet.
Changes to the C70 (at least as shown on the Int'l website) include (or seem to include):
- BLIS as an option - clock display moved to the audio/climate system display - slightly new appearance of the center console area between the seats, with an aluminum panel surrounding the cup holders and hand-brake lever, more or less matching the floating/vertical part of the console. - coupled with the above, the iPod/Aux. jack is now in this center console area, instead of being behind the floating/vertical part. - I think that the HP rating of the T5 engine will also go up, from 220 DIN hp (218 in US) to 230 DIN hp (227 or 228 in US), as with the new C30 T5. There is no change in the torque rating, as far as I can tell.
The int'l web site also has photos of the "new" (more of a minor refresh) S40 design. They are showing a wood center console, with the same floating design, although it is not clear if this will just be a choice, or option. It also may not apply to all countries.

Yes, volvomax says (i think on the C30 board) that all models with this engine will get a bump in power.

I got the standard 17" wheels on the very strong recommendation from my dealer. He knew that the very low profile tires and 18" wheels would be vulnerable to the multitude of potholes and other road hazards in my area (suburban NYC).
Me too and I am mad with Volvo. The insurance company gave me $500 back (I was charged !,000 for both wheels and I am calling Volvo every day to colect the balance. let me know what you did to get a refund. I am at Harnoncourt@aol.com
Well, even the 17s can fall victim to NYC streets - specifically, the Triboro bridge. I never saw the pothole but it made a terrible noise. The rim was bent but not broken and it has been holding air for 5 weeks now. My dealer offered to put me in touch with someone who can repair it for about half the cost of a replacement. Has anyone had any experience with a service like this?
Has anyone had problems with water leaking into the trunk? I have an 09 C70. It's been into the dealer 3 or 4 times bc there's water in the bottom of the trunk. It's coming in from above bc it's been as bad as several inches of water sloshing around under the spare. Dealer is waiting on volvo specialist to come see the car. Any advice out there for me? I love the car, but the ongoing problem has taken all of the fun out of it.
I have a 2006 (first model year) and have had it for three years next month. Have never had this problem. Only leakage I've had is minor drips through the windows when washing the car. I can imagine how frustrating this is for you. Make sure that they repair it for you! Good luck.
...what are we using to clean/condition the weatherstripping around the top and boot area? Any 'magic' potions out there or is one commercially available product rated better than others? The '08 is garaged much of the time but is otherwise exposed to central Texas heat. Any recommendations? Thanks.
Sorry to hear about these various problems...our only consistent bugaboo is the 'memory' seat not 'remembering' and occasionally moving fully forward when the door is opened.
Hi, sorry I do not, BUT I want a c70, can you share what you got for a deal? Do you like the car? Did you look at the 08 leftovers that are out there? thank you for you time
Just picked up my new 2009 C70 today. volvo has some great discounts $6500 off MSRP but my dealer gave it to me off their invoice which is about $2000 less than msrp so I saved $8500 off MSRP
WOW , serious discount,I have been following the $$ on used 2008 and 2008 on autotrader for a few months, and the $ I am seeing makes your$ look like a way better deal than used! I am in RI, where did you find this kind of deal?
Thanks so much for your tiem, ther is not a lot out on the web talking about the C70. Dave
Which state did you get the $6500 off from invoice? Thanks.
I am in SoCal, thinking of using the Clunker's $3500 in addition to the $6500, for a hopeful savings of $10K off invoce. Will try my luck this week. Seems most local dealers are not stocking C70's (less than 5 per dealer).
every state has 6500 0ff its a July volvo deal, then if you are lucky you get an added dealer discount. I am seeing 1500 to 2K in some cases.. I just bought one, picking up Wed. I had to settle for white as they are selling fast, so do not wait!

Also referred to as a strut tower bar, shock tower bar, etc.
Lots of folks install aftermarket versions of these on their cars. Volvo apparently looked ahead and took care of it right at the factory on the C70.

Could you show pictures of where to look at regarding the stained cover location? I cannot identify where this potential problem is located.

Any 06 delivered after July 06 had the proper installation done on the line.

I'd also kill the little scoop outs on the front arm rests. They are not good for much other than getting in the way.
Approaching 7500 miles and I totally love this car (even with the stupid clock and the less than optimal arm rests).
