Cupholder design probably wasn't very high on the priority list for the designers of the 2016 Tesla Model X, yet they took a pretty good stab at doing it differently.

    The larger issue here is that the flocked surface the holder ends fit into is an obvious bad choice for drinks. How are you going to get slopped drink liquid out of that stuff? I know that the flocking is there to provide an interference fit so that the holder ends won't slip out or bounce around...but they could just as easily have made the arched shape of the holder ends a spring-fit and avoided movement that way.

    Looks simple and elegant. I'd always be removing them to dig out the junk I toss in the cubby. Wonder if it'd work changing the configuration to just |) (| and leaving a little more room in the center.

    Can also see someone making tablet desks based on taller inserts or just taller inserts for Big Gulps.

    Wouldn't you just nest the unused ones on either side of the ones you are using?
