Oh, look, another turbocharged engine that significantly underperforms its EPA ratings. Surprise, surprise. EPA needs to revise its system and/or crack down on how automakers abuse it.

My 13 Optima Hybrid is getting 32-36 mpg in town, and 40-44 on the highway. It's roomier, better-looking, and cheaper: I paid $20k new.

You can keep this ugly Civic.

Here we go... This weight and size, this level of performance, this early in the test...it's going to get 38 mpg in pure highway driving, 30 in the city, on regular, and that's great.

Reviewing Fuelly.com, it appears that the Civic does quite well in the real world as compared to EPA estimates. Honda's EPA combined rating is 35, the Fuelly.com average is 34.X.

Geez, all this hate. I just got my Civic Turbo over the weekend and on my first drive to work (including 75+ mph Interstate driving), I averaged 42 mpg even with some more-aggressive acceleration. I haven't tried bumper-to-bumper yet, but I fully expect to average 38 mpg.
