Hi,

Newbie here. I am considering purchasing a Highlander Hybrid limited Platinum but don't know if I should wait for the 2017 model. The regular '17 Highlander has significant changes on the engine, but what about the hybrid model? Thanks for your advice.

Personally I do not think it a major consideration. There are always pluses and minuses. New engine with perhaps better economy Vs new ingine with perhaps new problems to be worked out. Will any improved economy, probably minor, be worth any new engine glitches to be worked out ?

I read it will have lithium-ion instead of tried and true Ni Mh battery. Lighter weight for same power rating, but has it been tested and tried as long as the NiMh ? I think it is also more expensive if a problem develops.

Is the 2017 a sure pick over the 2016 ? I do not know. I just bought a 2016 simply because I liked the Generation3 performance and was not sure of what was coming with the Generation 4 model. The end of year pricing on the 2016s was an onfluence also.

Your mileage may vary. If you go with the 2017 be sure to post your opinions.
