Here is a question. What color is the grey interior? Different sites are showing different shades - some say a light grey, and some say darker almost black. The Dealership had a sample swatch that was a very dark grey. The darker would be my preference.
Has anyone seen one with the grey interior that can confirm the shade?

Also, my dealer called me today and said my B9 Tribeca arrives in Boston on Monday or Tuesday. In Boston, final accessories are installed per customer request (I am having the towing package added, despite choosing the XM satellite radio as my gift), then it will be shipped to my dealer here in Upstate New York. He thinks I should have it by next Friday

Heard from a CT dealer that they ship from IN by train.
Put the order in yesterday and can't wait till it comes in.
Well, there goes your "entertainment purposes".
Wow, next Friday huh? That's great. I'll be waiting another 2 weeks (minimum) for ours. But supposely no later than 1st week of June.
I hope so, cause we're moving to Atlanta first week of June.
Randy, can you please provide me the number for Natelie Cox at SOA as I would like to see if should could assist me in validating my certificates.
Thanks
I hope she can help you, as well.

While there the sales person showed me a "sales aid" in which Tribeca primary competitors (and features) were listed. They are:
• Pilot EX; not the LX, but EX model.
• Murano SL; again, that trim level only.
• Touareg V6.
• Volvo XC90 2.5T AWD
Interesting in that the BMW 3.0 X5 was not listed, as this was often mentioned as the vehicle that the Tribeca was benchmarked against during its development. Nor was was the Acura MDX listed, which was a surprise too.

I am looking at the 7-passenger w/Nav in Silver or Mahogany with grey interior. Is there a certain percent or price over Edmunds invoice price I should shoot for? Edmunds invoice for the 7-pass w/nav and destination charge is $33,750, what would be a good price for a preorder?
Thanks!
You can find dealers that are offering close to invoice, if not invoice...
I kept at it for a few days, preordered at a fair price, and then actually had one dealer come back below invoice. I stuck with the original deal, for several reasons including proximity and the guys I bought from.
These dealers know they've got a great product here, and are sticking to value discussions primarily, but find one willing to talk price and hang in there.
I, too, thought the Mohogany w/ grey leather was a good combo...it's on it's way!
HA! I thought I was the only one here who ordered that color combo
If so, does anyone know of an online place for a discounted policy like the Honda's or Chyrsler's, or is the price pretty much set. I've searched the forums and can't really find a discussion about the Subaru warranty prices. No date yet on my 5 pass LTD, but I haven't bugged him lately.
I'm confident this vehicle (although new), will be pretty reliable. If there's anything Subaru is, is reliable.
To me, it just doesn't make sense to buy an extended warranty now. Chances are, with the hype of a new model, prices will be high or the same everywhere. When the hype calms, I'm sure competition will be easier to find.
Any recommendations? :confuse:
Randy
urmez: Ok, you had coupons under the old program, I remember now. They changed over when that one finished and now you can use them for service or accessories as well, even though we earn at a lower rate, now 3%, I think it used to be 5%.
I'd rather have the flexibility, personally.
Keep your eyes out for Tribeca spottings, especially ones available for test drives. I'm willing to travel a bit.

They're coming folks... THEY'RE COMING!!!!

Even though the Tribeca appears to be priced aggressively (ie. low), I think the Murano still has it beat in terms of value. IMO, of course.
On the spec page, they mentioned leather-covered steering wheel, shifter and parking brake. I don't see no hand-operated parking in any of the photos. I'm sure they won't cover the pedal of a foot-operated parking brake with leather! Is the parking brake cleverly hidden somewhere?
These are good observations, and are certainly worthwhile for some potential buyers of the B9 & high-ends to consider.
I say...since I've already driven, ordered one and have looked at all competitors mentioned...
sidown and git comfortable, which is quite possible without all the gadgets, appreciate the breeze without worring if you had to hold the button for 1 second or three, crank your favorite CDs on the 6 disc changer, and use your cell without all the Onstar charges.
You're right in saying purchases will be based on reliability, safety and price. Those are the primary reasons I ordered one. And it's just a cool car, too.
ms121269, Congrats on your incoming. I'll be in the same boat soon enough!
i just realized in this post from Sunday I meant to say "almost all of the 16 dealer are holding at MSRP for preorders." I found only 4 or 5 willing to discount from MSRP, and only two near invoice.
There is a national dealer meeting this weekend, where they will certainly compare sales and come back with a plan for the roll-out. Maybe they will be steadfast on MSRP, or more resonable based on preorders.
I'd love to know what SOA is offering for finance rates on the B9: this has yet to be determined as far as I know.
If we notice, no press is saying B9 is overpriced or expensive, this is what they wanted. If i can get fully loaded tribeca for 3k less MSRP at 35k, i will be very happy.
Geez, do you Canadian's not watch the Flintstones??? It is like a moped you can use the gas engine or you can peddle, a hybrid vehicle. Yaaabaadabbaadoooo!!!!!!
New Englanders are at a distinct disadvantage due to distribution and the additonal $200 dealers pay for their vehicles. Either a road trip is in order for you or you might try http://www.premiersubaru.com in CT and check their discounting (about 800+ over invoice).
Personally contacted 5 dealerships in CT and only one wanted to negotiate.
Perhaps they know about some outrageously good reviews coming out that we have not seen yet ?!?
Ordered our first through Premier but will order the second after 6 months when the mountain biking membership kicks in and Subaru offers the dealer cost program to the club.
Steve.
The good news is the dealer called me to say my pre sold is coming exactly as requested about 2 weeks and got the following update. Do I want to add these accessories:
1. Roof Rack Cross bars $210
2. Rear Bumper Protector $65
3. Cargo Area tray $75
Let him know right away.
Feature nit-pick:
memory seats - I prefer manual seats so I don't care for it
adjustable pedals - my wife is tall so this would be a waste for me
tilt/telescope wheel - it does tilt, it only does not telescope
auto window up/down - get FasToll and you won't need it any more!
XM radio - get the free portable one by pre-ordering
OnStar - no thanks, do you realize how low the renewal rates are?
Bluetooth - hype. I have a BlackBerry 7100T with a bluetooth headset and only used it the day I got it
So give me auto down for the driver's window for drive-thru windows but that's about it for my wish list. Beyond that "keep the price down" would take priority over anything else on that list.
I don't get how the Murano is a better value, though. Add heated leather, DVD, and Nav, to an AWD SE and the MSRP jumps to $41 grand, about $3 grand more than a Tribeca and you give up the 3rd row seat entirely! :surprise:
Freestyle offers lower prices, but I'd wait until the bigger Duratec engine arrives because everyone complains about the current one. Plus it's just dull.

Maybe it's just me, but if I know I can get a vehicle at invoice or close to it, then I'll find the dealer that is willing to do business. I'm sure they'll find other 'suckers' to sell the B9 at MSRP (no offense to anyone here). I think with the exception of the NE with the monopoly they have, I find it pathetic that dealers would do whatever it takes to jeoperdize a future business relationship for a one shot deal. How many dealers will get noticed for selling MSRP vehicles vs. those who are willing to negotiate.
I could have gotten the B9 at invoice but I decided to do business with a dealer whom I've done business with for a long time, so to me $300 over invoice is nothing. They're giving me a good deal on my wife's OB wagon lease, so it's a no brainer.
My dealer knows that their word means everything to me. And I also know they're not going to give me the shaft to sell the car MSRP or close to it.
Keep shopping... you don't have to be the first one out there with the B9. Worse case scenario, test drive one than call dealers, even out of state dealers to get a better deal and either pick it up or have them transport it to you.
Case closed!
Who is the dealer more likely to help if you need to make a warranty claim at 36,001 miles, the guy who fought to save a couple of bucks, or bigelm, who allowed the dealer a reasonable profit and has become a loyal repeat customer?
$300 sonds like a lot but we're talking about less than 1% of the total transaction.

Even $500 over invoice would have been fine. Make a fair deal and move on. I didn't even have to negotiate. I e-mailed a bunch of dealers "would you sell me the B9 at invoice". I took the first yes. When I finally get to look him in the eye and press the flesh, I'll be sure to say thank you. If a dealer held the line on MSRP as his practice that's fine with me, but when "dealers" get together and decide to hold the line...well three words come to mind...price fixing, illegal. That's just my cynical take on what happens at those dealer conventions.
After understanding the potential for a switcheroo when another buyer offers MSRP, I stuck with the original deal, and feel good about it.
I waited 4 months for an MPV that never showed up.
Lo and behold, when I went in to cancel my order I not only got the car right away, but it had $1500 more options.
IMO, I think the business of "ordering" gives a dealer a lot of time to profiteer from other buyers walking in the door. If they can give your car to someone else and still have an order in hand, they come out ahead every day.
My policy is if I can't see it and drive it, I don't buy it.
John
It is great to see that customer service is still one of Subaru's main values.
