Sticking clutch pedal

I have a 2007 Tacoma 4 cylinder 5 speed. The clutch pedal started sticking about a month ago and has only happened a hand full of times. When the pedal is pushed to the floor it would stick, I thought it was hanging up on the floor mat at first but that was not the case. I went out to move the truck today and the pedal immediately stuck to the floor. Like usual I tapped the pedal kind of on the side to get it to release. the pedal then came back up. But now it wont push back in at all!!! There is only 1/2" of travel on the pedal and stops solid. It's like it is binding up on something. The spring seems to be in place the right way and nothing that I can see obviously wrong. Any ideas?

Hello! there are two types of clutch systems used on vehicles with manual transmissions. The older simple cable controlled clutch and the hydraulic clutch which uses a slave cylinder and hydraulic fluid to make the pedal easy to push. Often, with the cable clutch, just replacing the cable, adjust for correct operation, lube all the parts that move with the cable and grease the pedal rack will solve the problem. If your clutch is hydraulic, there could be a number of things going on, and without seeing the vehicle, cannot pinpoint any of them, but can say check the fluid. You didn't say if the clutch is still engaged, or is slipping, does it start?

thanks for the reply!!! it is a hydraulic clutch, the truck will start but can not get it to go into gear. I replaced the slave cylinder and the pedal will move freely now but still will not return to the top. I bled the line out and refilled the master cylinder twice. I did notice that there is another cylinder under the dash that goes between the bracket and clutch pedal. I have never seen this kind of set up before on a clutch. Could this be the problem or do you think I don't have it bled completely??????

The cylinder under the dash attached to the clutch pedal was the problem. Dear sweet Toyota decided to put a "clutch master cylinder" under the dash which ties into the brake fluid reservoir and then to the slave cylinder on the trans. A regular parts store wanted $80-$100 for the part, EBay had it for $62. 93Tracker I appreciate your time and input!
