Perhaps the 'hose it out' interior mantra affected the door panel designers.

I'm not sure if it's just me, but I really can't use many dedicated armrests in cars very comfortably - they're too low. Most of the time I can use the center console, but whenever I try to use the door armrest while driving a car, it feels like I'm forcing my arm to stay down there, not resting it there. I end up propping my arm on the window sill, though in this case it doesn't seem like it would be that much better. I imagine fancier cars with built-in seat armrests are better in this regard.

Try a VW or some Audi's. They have the adjustable armrest for both pull out and height. Does actually help!

I know the Chevy Colorado took similar hits for hard arm rests, but does anyone know how the GMC Canyon does in this regard? I.e., does the Canyon have any softer cushioning on the arm rests, especially where elbow comes into contact? On my current Chevy cars this is a huge peeve of mine. (And I'm eyeballing the new Canyon, hence my question.)
