I have a 2014 Cherokee Limited. I went through a couple of transmissions and was about to give up on the car, which I think is (otherwise) the best I've ever owned. The latest transmission has performed flawlessly and I think it is what Jeep had in mind when they spec'd the ZF 9 speed. I have every reason to think that tranny problems are a thing of the past with this particular machine, and I look forward to seeing it in the dealership in time to replace my 2014 (lease is coming up next April.)

BEWARE! The brand new 2017 Jeep Cherokee Limited 4x4 edition is aesthetically pleasing, but only 3 days after purchasing, power steering failed, battery failed to hold a charge, and service light for new Auto engine start-stop function is on. Jeep needs to spend more time on QA for new parts. I've owned my new jeep for a total of 10 days and it has been in the shop for 6!!!
