    I'm still pretty shocked by this. Our 13 Pilot averages right around 19.5 MPG and that's going over a small mountain frequently and a not-so-fantastic cylinder deactivation scheme. Its also amazing in comparison to our 16 Civic where its quite easy to get 46 mpg on the highway.

    Yeah, I'm with you, but West LA traffic is about as bad as it gets, and this one has become the favored ride of some of the staffers that live in that area. Also, the 9-speed is especially ill-suited to the sort of impatient cutthroat gridlock driving style that's common there.
