Are you a current or recent car shopper who bought an EV and then installed solar – or who had solar already, making the decision to go electric easier?
OR
Are you a recent EV buyer (past 3 months) as a result of manufacturer incentives and dealer discounts on these vehicles, including year-end deals? Were you convinced to buy an EV after finding a good end-of-year deal, or due to uncertainty around which EVs will no longer qualify for full/partial EV tax credits in 2024? 2000 Jeep Cherokee smart key problem

I just became familiar with the forum thru a friend after telling him about my recent problem with my 2000 Jeep GC that refused to start. I'm guessing at this point that it has something to do with the ignition key, or it's related electronics, since the dashboard logos show a key image with a x symbol thru it. The engine would turn over fine but would not start. My first thought was a defective fuel pump, and after noticing the gas gauge on empty, I added 2 gallons of gas to the gas tank and poured about a quarter of a cup of gas into the carburator throat. Same result---I believe no spark. After discovering the x'd out key symbol via the tow truck drivers comment, I tried my wife's key--same result.
Currently I am awaiting the repair garages' diagnosis which I hope will be tomorrow sometime.
