I just recently bought my second car, a 2001 Mercury Sable. The radio in it does not work, neither does the cassette tape player and the clock does not display on the screen. The previous owner was not sure what was wrong with it or why it doesn't work. I was wondering if there is a way to fix this? Could it be something wrong with the wiring? If I get an aftermarket in dash stereo would that work? I don't mind spending a little money, I would just like a working radio. Thank you

Probably not a wiring problem but since everything appears to be dead, check your fuses first.

Any stereo shop can install quite a selection of aftermarket units or you could look for a factory one in a junkyard and have them install it. Since cassettes are pretty much a thing of the past I think I would upgrade with the aftermarket one. Try Best Buy.
