Car can't shift without stalling.

I have a 2007 2.5L automatic VW Rabbit. My car suddenly could not drive without stalling, I was driving all day without a problem and just took a 200 mi car ride last week. Trying to drive slow and trying to cruise at 50 mph would stall it. After stalling I would lose my power steering. Sometimes it would stall and with power to the accelerator it would take a burst and drive a 1/2 mi before stalling again. I stopped and let it cool for an hour and try again, but it didn't help. The belt on my engine is still fastened. I made it home by manually shifting gears but couldn't really go past 2nd gear. I let it sit overnight and through the next day. I don't know what to do.
