I wonder how well Hyundai will be able to sell the Genesis G80, with aspirations to compete against German luxury cars such as the BMW 5 series and Audi A6, alongside $15,000 Accent econoboxes in the same dealership.

I agree here. I have a Genesis ultimate. When I leased mine it was across from a hyundai accent. The only upscale notion in the hyundai dealership was different Floor tile and a plaque. I have seen more care given to a used GTR in a nissan dealership. In addition you are dealing with the sales staff who is used to selling accents and the finance guys, ect ect. It was a fairly disappointing sales experience nothing felt premium upscale or special about it. Folks were a bit rude, I came from a Volvo and have to say the sales and to some degree the service experience was far superior, That said I targeted the Genesis specifically since I knew they were changing the badge in the back but nothing else. Because of this I received a deal $100 cheaper per month on a $53k genesiis over a $35k Honda. I find it hard that hyundai will lure large number of Audi/BMW loyalists, obviously they will pick up folks turned off by cost or a bad experience. I think HYundai is cheapening their "premium" brand without a hard relaunch in it own dealerships. I mean what is the point I know it will eventually happen but you are talking 2 model generations before you start attracting the mainstream acceptance.
