Right Front end axle or tranny noise?

At low rpm
,when you accelerate there is like a scraping or light grinding noise until it's gets past the second gear of the automatic transmission.
Is that the RF AXLE NOISE OR TRANNY NOISE

SHOULD I JACK UP THE CAR WITH NO WHEELS ON and get under it with Jack stands to pinpoint the problem area?
