    I think the article left out the biggest reason for leasing is that most vehicle's prices (at least with basic desirable options) are over most people's ability to purchase outright--$45-60K for a Ford F150!!!! Add to the fact that you typically owe sales tax (in my area that is 8.9%) at registration and it's hard to afford two lump sum payments to purchase a car vs. leasing which require a smaller down, sales tax added monthly, and lower payments overall.
