Is this an engine oil leak? 2010 Honda Accord. Can you tell if this an engine that'll have a problem

I don't see an oil leak . Just a lot of dust and dirt.

Hondas typically never seem to develop oil leaks. Maybe an oil pan gasket after 200,000 miles.

    Thank you very much, isellhondas.
I thought the black smudges below and around the engine oil cap was oil residue.

It may have been spilled during an oil change?

would you say the engine looks good? I am thinking of buying the car as used.

It's cheap insurance to pay $100 for a pre-purchase inspection.

Thank you, stever. Do you know any websites or ways to find pre-purchase inspection mechanic?

Best bet is to ask around - maybe approach some Honda owners at the gas pumps and ask for suggestions.

Websites - well there's plenty of review sites like Yelp. Maybe RepairPal. I understand Pep Boys does inspections if there's one in your area, but I'd prefer to find a local shop specializing in Hondas. Or just take it to a dealer. They should be able to pull up repair and maintenance records from the VIN too.

Figure an hour of shop time, so that's where my $100 came from. Could be more or less.
