I received my GM Loyalty rebate coupon that gives
me the following options:
1) $500 off purchase price
2) SmartCare - free oil lube and sceduled
maintenance for 3yr/36k
3) MajorGuard - 5 Year/60k extended bumper to
bumper warranty.

Which would you choose and why.
Note: my new 4-door Silverado LS 2wd arrives next
week.

How long has this rebate been offered? I purchased a 00' 2500 in October and was not aware of that rebate.

About the best deal of the three is the major Guard. it's by farr the most expensive....however it's the best deal for GM as well.
    How?

I doubt you will ever need it.

Do you think any automaker would sell warrantys if they didn't make money on them? Do they do it to be nice?

Sceduled maint.in 36,000 is 5 times at 7500 miles intervals. That's about $170 for oil changes and lube...and a few other cheap extras.

Ext. warranty would be over $1,000

Or there is the $500 bucks.

Warranty - probably won't use it.
maint. - No biggee for value
    $500 is always $500

Now if you really want a warranty....then get that..it's by farr the most expensive....but by choosing that...I doubt you will get anything free from GM.

Most ugly will show itself before then.

Yeah...some people need it...but overall...most don't. That's why they still sell them and make the money on them.

Want security?....Invest $1300 in a good Mutual Fund and 3-5 years later...you have good money...(and security if something does break)...instead of...well....Nothing!

    Take the $500

    Good luck

The rebate was a mailing that was sent out to GM owners.....kinda like a Gift certificate.

I got one...and I bought a 2500 in August. Course I also am a repeat buyer...don't know if that makes any difference who gets them?

    Good Luck

The coupons are only good as a promotional item from 1/4/00 through 2/29/00. If you are a current GM owner than you can bring in your title and get the same deal. If you are not a GM owner but know somebody who is, they can call the 1-888 number I give on my next post and have the coupon mailed to you.

However, I found out this morning that the person who calls must be an employee or retiree of GM or Hughes and they can have two coupons sent to non-gm owners. My father-in-law called in one for me and he is a GM retiree.

I received one in the mail today, can't use it so that is something else to go out in the circular file.

I actually recieved a third coupon today in the mail. One of them was through my
father-in-law who is a hughes retiree and sponsored me for a coupon. The other
two I will take a stab at why I recieved them.

I am pretty sure that when the GM Mastercard (which gives me 5% of every purchase towards my next vehicle which will be $840 towards my truck) sent me a survey on when I was going to purchase my next vehicle. I think I put down within
    one month.

The other one might have come when I noted the same interest at GM.com.

The back of the coupon says: "Transferable with proof of address to residents within your household.

My name and address is printed on the front of the coupon. So I don't believe anyone else can use these coupons.

If you need one try calling the GM card if you have one and go to GM.com and show your interest.

    Good luck!!!

The only reason for the coupons is to jump start sales as GM profits dropped off 32% last year. maybe people have been reading this web page and are smarting up.

extend the offer deadline thru March if they want to make up for past problems & unmet quota's.
But of course I'm biased since it's questionable that I'll recieve my truck in February with a TPW of 2/7. I sure could use $500 towards other necessities ie; exhaust system maybe.

Does anyone know I have heard that they are extending the $500 Extra Value Certificates to April 3, instead of the Feb 29th, like they are doing with the Incentive Offers.
