    Hi,

I'm in the market for a 2008 GS350 RWD with ML, 18" summer tires, XM, in black. Any experience with dealerships in Southern California ? Orange County / LA / Inland Empire ? What are typical prices I would look at ?

Still must decide between three DIFFERENT 2008 cars -- all that I like Lexus GS350, Cadillac CTS (with blue tooth added, giving me separate screen), or Infiniti G35. Then, must decide whether to buy or lease. Incidentally, Lexus has best mileage, but Cadillac uses regular gas. I currently have BMW 530i expiring lease which, with Edmunds help, I had leased for net MF, and much less, with multiple security deposits.
Anyway, for GS350, G35, and CTS, could you please provide:
    (1) Target deal relative to invoice+destination (and any rebate)
    (2) If buy, available finance rates
    (3) If lease, money factor or interest for 24mo, 36 mo for 12K, 15K annually
Any better MF or interest rate for multiple security deposits?
Thank you for this information. I'll also put on other forums, in case you guys see that first.
    Thank you!

    Hi all,
Just purchased 2008 GS350 RWD in Florida with ML,Nav & XM installed for 46K including the dealer fee. OTD was 49,050.00. MSRP was about 51,600 . I was told this was pretty much at invoice including the dealer price on XM. Love the car & think it was a great price. We too were torn between the CTS & G35 but the ML audio in the Lexus was the selling point for us.

I just bought an 06 GS300 AWD w/21,000 miles, loaded for $34,500. It is probably one of the last 06s as production date is 8/06 so plenty of warranty left.

Beautiful car, black with grey interior and black wood. Nav, much more. Great condition, although quite a few little paint chips on the hood and front bumper. The dealer said they would touch it up, but just called me back and said their body shop decided to repaint the entire hood and bumper because they felt we wouldn't be happy with it touched up. I bought it used at St. Charles Mercedes , who just got it on a trade in 5 days ago. Great dealer!

In the last week, I was about to buy 2 different 06 GS300s with low miles, and both sold before we made a final decision. Glad to get this one.

I really wanted a GS350 with the bigger engine, but those are impossible to find used, and this car still has plenty of pick up. I think this is a great value for this car.

now the most unbelievable part: the gs' shift got lock in "P" at 30 miles...LOL

it's at the dealer for service right now but can I ask or an exchange of another GS???? im just not comfortable...

Tangofan - just noticed the great deal you got on the GS350, I'm looking for the same model in Florida, could you share the city & dealership so I could add them to my search. Thanks

    Hi colslick,
We bought at Lexus of Palm Beach.(Maroone) We live in Broward & found the best deal in WPB.We even bought mid month for that price. Everything over the phone, best experience buying a car we ever had! We do our service there as well. Its a nice 50 mile ride and the dealership is beautiful . They still have many GS's on the lot! You can get info on every new Lexus they have on site if you look them up under Maroone.Good luck.

Thanks for your help, I was looking at the ES350 and made the mistake of test driving the GS "what a difference". Have an Infiniti M35 lease turn in this month and don't think I can go to the ES. GS is sooo much more . Wish Lexus put some incinitive on the GS , like the 2K on the M35
  • tangofantangofan Member Posts: 50
I know exactly what you mean. When we were looking at Sedans back in February we drove the M35 & the G35 series from Infiniti and drove the Lexus ES & the GS right after. No way could we buy the ES after that. Too floaty for me. I enjoyed driving the Lexus over Infiniti when it came to a sedan but now that I am looking for an small SUV for myself, I really liked the Infiniti EX over the Lexus RX.
Give Maroone a shot, they have had the same Grey/grey GS350 with the Mark Lev , and all the extras you are interested in on that lot for months. The MSRP on it was 51,590.00 You may be able to do better than we did in March!

Today I purchased a 2008 GS350 RWD in Florida with ML,Nav, factory XM & various other options for $45,056 plus a $699 dealer fee. MSRP was $52,076 (discount over $7,000). The deal was below invoice and holdback before the dealer fee (sales manager showed me the numbers). The local dealer matched an out of town dealer's special low price only offered to out of towners (regular price was $900 more). Own two Infiniti's, but the highway RPM is too high and the gas mileage is too low on the new ones (for me at least). Also looked at the BMW 535, but at almost $15,000 more (after discounts) and wories about long term reliability, the Lexus was my choice.
  • tangofantangofan Member Posts: 50
Great deal. You are going to love this car! The audio system in unreal!
I agree about the mileage on the Infiniti's but I fill up my current car only about once per month and average around 26 mpg. I only put about 5 - 7 K on a car per year. I just need more room for the kids & the dogs & like the way the EX drives. It doesn't feel like an SUV.
  • colslickcolslick Member Posts: 29
Congrats on your great deal, You and tangofan have set the bar for the rest of us after this car. Dealer in my area has few in stock and won't deal. Could you share the name of the dealership where you made the deal. Thanks and good luck with the GS350.

Hi, Call Lexus of Orlando. Their web site has an 800 number to call for price quotes. Just tell them what you want and they will give you the MSRP and discounted price immediately. They are very easy to work with. Good Luck.

Hi All, I'm new to the forum. Would like to seek help here in terms of buying 2008 GS350 AWD or RWD. I am living in Philadelphia, and I heard that dealers only have AWD in the Northeast. Can anyone suggest what price I should expect to pay for car with NAV, Park Assist, Vent Seats and Rain Sensor? I'm willing to travel 300 mile for the right price. Can anyone suggest a dealership to me?

I'm looking to pay below $44000 for RWD and $46000 for AWD, is it possible?

Thanks in advance for all your inputs!!

Try Prestige Lexus in NJ. They tend to have among the best (if not the best) prices in that region. I was able to get them to quote $5K less than MSRP for this car (AWD with Nav, ML, and other options) back in December, so I'd assume that around $6K less than MSRP would be possible right now. They seemed pretty courteous and prompt, although I didn't end up buying from them eventually (it was too far for me), so I can't comment on the overall buying experience. Other folks on this forum have got good prices from them as well. Good luck!

    Hi Rumble,

Can you please get me the salesperson's name there? or do you work with the internet salesperson?

What deal did you end up with you purchase?

    Thanks!

    hchan
  • rumble1rumble1 Member Posts: 7
Yes, I contacted them through their internet department (just did a sales inquiry from their website and they called me back). You will have to talk to them on the phone for pricing though since they don't email you the quotes. Bill Barton is the sales guy I was talking to. For my purchase, I paid $48,100+TTL for an MSRP of $53000, but i didn't purchase through Prestige. Prestige's best quote to me was $47,500+TTL for an MSRP of $52450. Again, this was back in December, so you might be able to get a better deal on this car from them right now.

I had been considering the ES but it was just too floaty for me. Thanks to the info on this thread, I decided to give the GS350 a try. Wow what a car!! I bought my 2008 GS just this weekend at Lexus of Chandler in AZ for approx 43500+TTL. It has window tint, nav, spoiler, really everything except ML audio. This dealership treated me well, not only on the sale but on the financing. I would recommend contacting their Fleet or Internet dept.

Interestingly, I had a bad experience at Lexus of Chandler 2 years ago and swore I'd never go back. They got rid of the jackass who waited on me that time. So glad I gave them a second chance - love the car!!

Thanks to all of you on this thread for your very helpful information - truly appreciated.

Sounds like a good deal. Can you tell me how much is that off MSRP price? What color do you get?

I am kinda torn between Lexus GS350 and BMW 528xi.
  • bmlexusbmlexus Member Posts: 755
Doesn't the small front road visibility bothers anyone when driving the GS?
  • sanjaysdcasanjaysdca Member Posts: 269
Does anyone know when 2009 GS are expected...
  • tom17tom17 Member Posts: 134
Congratulations on the new car. They are great cars. I looked at a BMW 335 the other day and it was going to cost more than a GS350 (including discounts). BMW prices are going thru the roof!!!
  • jbattjbatt Member Posts: 13
What was the MSRP? I am looking hard at a 2008 GS350 AWD with MSRP of around 51,300.
  • tom17tom17 Member Posts: 134
I bought a new GS350 RWD the end of May. Sticker was $52,076. Paid $45,000 plus TTL. Had the local dealer match the Orlando dealer's "out of town" price. There are considerable discounts to be had !!!
  • teethstraightteethstraight Member Posts: 15
I've been look at GS350 AWD and BMW 528xi. Their prices are very similar.
Looks like GS350 has pretty much everyting, the only option I need is the navigation system. Can anyone tell me what other options are needed for GS350? How much off MRSP can I get the car now?
  • tom17tom17 Member Posts: 134
    Mine has the following options:

    18" Summer Tires ($870)
Wood & Leather Steering Wheel ($330)
    ML / Nav ($3630)
    Rear Spoiler ($200)
    Rain Sensing Wipers ($525)
    Rear Sunshade ($210)
    Ventilated Seats ($200)
    Intuitive Parking Assist ($500)
    Preferred Acc Package ($210)
    XM Radio ($486)

Most of the cars in my area had everything but the XM on them.
  • teethstraightteethstraight Member Posts: 15
It's hard for me to decide which one to buy. 528xi is not as reliable as GS350 in the long run. I heard some compaints about GS350 about the noise on brake or something like that.
    Please help me.
  • tangofantangofan Member Posts: 50
I have basically the same options on my GS as Tom17 does but my XM radio was dealer installed, not factory. Never heard a squeak at all. Breaks are really sensitive. I Read about issue with noise from fuel injector but I have no problems. The only thing I know about that is a concern is the fact the the 18" summer tires have a very short life span. So much so that Lexus has the fact that these tires wear out very fast as a disclaimer on their website. I think they predict under 15K Other than that, I prefer the Lexus over the BMW. I also bought an Infiniti SUV over a BMW and the Lexus so it's really a matter of personal preference.
FYI... did read that the RWD in the Lexus GS350 is more reliable than the AWD version and I did buy my GS with RWD .

I had been considering the BMW 535i and the Infiniti G35/M35. Did not get the Infiniti due to high RPM on the highway (over 3000) and resultant low MPG. The 535i is just overpriced. Sticker for comparable equipped was over $60K. Minimal discount at BMW dealer, $7K discount at Lexus means I saved about $15K with the GS350.
  • teethstraightteethstraight Member Posts: 15
    Thanks!
I went to a dealer today. He showed me this starfire white pearl color GS350 AWD, I like that red one also but they don't have it. The list price is $51,000, he showed me the invoice price $45,300. Do you think I can get the car at about $43k (about) $8,000 off MRSP)? It's end of the year, the new 2009 is coming soon. :)
  • tom17tom17 Member Posts: 134
My car is Starfire Pearl also !!!
I doubt you can get $8,000 off.
My price was slightly below Invoice and holdback, but the dealer had a $695 paperwork fee that I paid. Basically that was their profit. I think it all depends on what your dealer charges for the paperwork fee. Have them show you not just the invoice but the holdback also.
Were they willing to sell for invoice?
The end of the month helps also. Wait till the last day of the month for the best price.
  • teethstraightteethstraight Member Posts: 15
Hi Tom, when did you buy your GS350, it's good you got $7k discount. I called one dealer today, they only give $4k discount. I thought it's end of year, but it's still so hard to deal. I still hated the buying experience when I got my current car 10 years ago. Now i have to do this again! Why don't they just give a fair price? I want them to make money, but I don't want to be cheated either.
  • billyperks2billyperks2 Member Posts: 378
End of the year for Lexus is literally the end of the year. That is when they have their December to Remember (totally useless) program to get customers in the door.
  • seatoyotasalesseatoyotasales Member Posts: 36
Why is it uselss?? If it gets people in the door the sales staff has a better chance of making a sale. That is what advertising does.....
  • billyperks2billyperks2 Member Posts: 378
    its called deception.

Hi, I bought my GS350 in late May. I got the "out of town" price from Lexus of Orlando and then had Lexus of Melbourne (my local dealer) match it.
  • teethstraightteethstraight Member Posts: 15
    MSRP - $51,000
    Dealer Offer - $45,000

Just negotiate with a dealer, please let me know if this is good?

    Thanks!
  • tangofantangofan Member Posts: 50
That's a very good price. I paid about that back in March for mine and the MSRP was 51,590.00 .
  • chucko3chucko3 Member Posts: 793
    Yes.
  • tom17tom17 Member Posts: 134
That is a great price. You should buy the car for that price if you are happy with the car. Tom

Wanted to give back to the forum.. because of how valuable the info was for me when trying to get the best price.

I purchased 2 new Acura RL's over the years and wanted to see what else was out there before I made another purchase... I looked at BMW, Infiniti, Acura and Lexus, but really never considered BMW because it's not Japanese and the 528i? series that I looked at was horrible.

I got the GS 350 MSRP $52,050 + whatever the MSRP is for XM radio

    For $45,500!

A dealer in San Diego offered me the same car for $45,150. The CA doc fee is $500 less then where I live so it would have been a total savings of $850 to hop on a Southwest flight for $99.00

But, I'm so picky that I would not have wanted to drive it 300 miles on the freeway (at 80mph) during the break-in period... I would have spent the weekend touring around the west coast of CA to build miles before I hit the freeway.

When I offered $45,150, my local dealership would not go below $47,200 and when I told them my final price was $45,500 they would not take the deal and I left that night at 8:30PM without the car.

I then knew that my only way to get the price was a face to face with the General Manager of the dealership who is normally not involved in the sales process at all. After 15 minutes of conversation he asked me if I was ready to buy the car for whatever price I had offered (he didn't even know, nor did he care what the price was???), and it was done. He told the sales department that we reached a deal, and they were completely shocked that I could get that price and wondered what we talked about during those 15 minutes.

Your spending a lot of money, get the best deal possible and negotiation is always best done in a professional, civilized manner.

Also, don't let the dealership make money off you (steal from you) on the back end. If your credit score is above 720, then you are eligible for Tier 1 + which is 5.6% for 60 months on non promo vehicles. The dealer finance people get commission off the amount they overcharge you.

As far as the up sell in the financing office, I would only recommend 2 things..

    1. Take the GAP insurance, since it's only ~$6.00 more a month. If you’re not familiar with this let me explain... Your auto insurance carrier will only pay what the car was worth at the time of crash.... if this happened a few months after your new car purchase, you would be short ~$5000 or so dollars from what they paid you out on and what it cost to buy a new car from the dealership. The GAP policy would ensure that you would get a brand new car in this situation.

    2. Extended warranty if you plan on keeping the car. I extended the 48 / 50,000 to 72 / 100,000 for $1750.00 more and got a cheaper rate for not using the 100% refund option. Chances are that the CD player will jam, etc and you will need some kind of warranty related fix within a 7 year period.

As a final note, the premium stereo upgrade is unrivaled by any other car maker in this class... It's hard to get the "wow" factor out of me but I said wow, when I listened to the stereo with some audio testing cd's that I brought in from home.

    Happy negotiating!

Bought my GS350 in late May with all the same options (incl XM) for $45,000.
Looked at the BMW 535, but it was going to be $15K more.
Did you get the Michelin tires?
    Fantastic gas mileage and performance.
MotorWeek had a test of the new Lincoln MKS - 1.7 sec slower 0-60 and 3-4 mpg less (16/23 - thats CUV mileage).
I love the keyless entry, just put your hand on the handle to open the door and it unlocks. No key, no fob, no buttons.
    The Lexus is amazing !!!
