What Use is the "Expanded View Driver's Mirror" ?

To my eyes, I see only a vertical line dividing the mirror into a large and a very small section. I see no advantage in that at all. Comments ?

    That small part of the driver's side rear view mirror that is supposed to widen the rear view is worthless. The widening effect is practically nil, and what little is added is distorted. I like Hondas, but this is a design mistake IMO.
