It doesn't seem like a big deal to say that a Civic is a fantastic car. For decades that was pretty much a given. But the reality is that the last generation wasn't all that great and the same could be said for the generation before that. For the past decade, Civics have been OK but trading on their reputation more than their merit. This current generation changes all that. The Civic is now a great car, just like it used to be. Honda should be commended.

Yep, I love my EX-T and it works great for transporting my family too (even with our much larger Pilot). I miss the Civic's interior everytime I rent a different car. Its clean and intuitive and well designed.

I would say that functionally it's great, but the looks...just too much going on. Like a lot of Japanese cars recently (and not so recently...) it's overstyled and contrived-looking. Hatchback is worse yet.

Infotainment is unexceptional. Actual knob for volume and tuning is superior to the current Honda screen controls.

@moparbad I actually agree with that tiny detail. I like a good knob. Though, the "slider" control on the steering wheel is a pretty cool exception and pretty easy to get used to versus taking your hand off the steering wheel to find a knob on the dash. One man's opinion.

The weird faux air intakes in the rear bumper are the strangest thing. I am sure it is an excellent car, but man did they go overboard in the styling. Still compensating for the highly criticized 2012 model I guess.
