motor struggles to turn

my 1998 gmc sierra 4.3 vortec struggles to turn over it barley turns its not anything to do wih the battery im thinking one of the pulleys froze? any suggestions?

    Try pulling the belt off and then see if the engine will start. If it does check the alternator to see if it spins or not. That was a common problem.
