PLEASE HELP!?

I have a 2010 acadia that family wrecked. Has some front end damage. Also side curtain air bags were deployed. .so we bought an 07 to use for parts. Its diagnosis was bad motor/timing chain.. We have been dealing with these 2 vehicles for almost 2 months now. We've fallen in love with the 07 and are wanting to try to fix it..so have many many questions.. The 07 will not start. Won't even crank or turn over.found out that it didn't have a body control module either...so My husband got a different key switch and body control module that went with it.(please excuse me if some of this seems wrong, I am still in training).. Neither of the 2 did anything. We've been back and forth with so many people saying that you don't have to reprogram the bcm and you have to get the part that was specific to that vehicle.(factory provided)...so do you have to take the bcm to the dealer to have it reprogrammed or can you do something. Yourself to make it workable.? Would it be. Easier/cheaper to just replace timing chain or entire motor?.. You have to understand we are on very minimal funding here ,we have 6 kids and no vehicle, so to be frank, we need. Fast assistance at the cheapest and easiest...route. .. I understand that there are some things that cant be substituted but i know that there are ways around certain things as well..thanks for all the help it will be grately appreciated..May God bless!!
