    I rode in my buddy's '00 Tahoe Limited. Let me say first of all very, very sweet. Heated leather seats, power everything, CD player, etc. etc. However, the middle storage (between the front captains chairs), the lid on that thing felt like it was going to break every time you opened it. Very cheap plasticy feeling. That was the worst. I mean, come on, I know I'm being picky, but if I pay $35K for the 'Hoe, it better not have one piece on it that is cheap. I really think the interior, overall, is cheapo.

    I don't know about that cheap "hoe" you've been riding with, but the lockable console on my "doe" has a very strong lid!

    It's 'Hoe as in an abbreviation for Tahoe, your's should be 'do as in abbreviation for Silverado. That is, unless your Dan Quayle.

    Really though, about the console lid. Yeah, it may be strong. It would probably hold me if I stood on it. That's not the point. The plastic that makes up Dorito's bags is really tough. Ever try to get one to tear? But the thing is, I don't want my car made out of it. It feels cheap. It may actually be made from a very expensive polymer, but it feels like crap. It may be very tough, but, again, it doesn't feel like it. It just gives the impression of NOT quality.

    Well, it's plastic, you know. And it is cheap. And it fits right, wears well, cleans up easy, has some good benefits, like leaving money in my pocket.

    You can choose the Cadillac Escalade for that luxury feel of quality.

    No, I think it is total crap that Ford puts vinyl in the rear seats of their trucks and Mustangs (maybe others I don't know of). That's not the point. I never made this a mine vs. yours or Chevy vs. Ford argument. I was simply pointing out my opinion on some of Chevy's interior qualities. Ford has issues, too. We can talk about those if you want. I am NOT the world Ford defender, believe me.

    I agree, you were just expressing an opinion. Not the first time that issue has been raised.

    I don't think any of these truck interiors will be confused with the BMW 5 series.

    But I think your point would have been, that on the Tahoe, you already have heated leather, why not finish the job rather than leave cheap plastic reminders it's a Chevy.

    That's why they market the Escalade.

    it really must be 'in the eye of the beer-holder', I mean beholder. I own a '98 GM, the most complained about 'cheap' interior on this BB, and I really have no idea why it seems cheap to some people!? Look, feel, whatever. I don't see the difference between it or Ford, which majority folks claim has the best interior quality.

    i think the fabric on GM seats are awesome. the outer dash cover is very hard, slick, but still with a nice texture to it. easy to clean. i absolutely love the big knobs on the A/C controls and light switch. large, kind of rubbery, soft vinyl feel. they have firm, not loose fit when adjusting the knobs; soft clicks, but not 'snappy' nor too loose.

    the only thing i would say doesn't look or feel good is the notepad holder on the center console, or flip down bench, in my case. if you put too big of a notepad in it, and latch it down, the notepad will cause the plastic to bulge a little, and its not a perfectly flat top surface. but then, what isn't going to bulge, steel?

    Exactly! Those leather seats in the Tahoe seemed like some of the nicest I've ever sat in (except for lack of lateral support). But then they had to go and throw in something that wasn't up to the standards of the rest of the vehicle. Some of the interior just seems really out of place. I guess for the difference in price between the Tahoe LTD and the Escalade, I'd stick with the Tahoe. It is certainly nice enough.

    I think the interior on the '98 is every bit as good as what they put in the '99's and up. But really, they are more alike than different. I wouldn't say one is an improvement, just that one is newer.

    On the other hand, if they put some of that vinyl padded stuff over the hard plastic pieces, some of the "cheap plastic" complaints would be muted.

    Reason enough not to do it. Would give the Cadillac owners something to complain about if Chevy gets too upscale.

    It is!! its much more comfortable to feel and to sit on than Fords! Dodge is Ok.

    ive looked at them all and owned many. My Landrover discovery was a piece of crap. My 96 vette leaked so bad the dealer replaced my windshield 3 times..t tops twice..

    After years of cars, I'm finally ready for my own truck! But can't decide which one is the best between Chevy Silverado, Ford F-150, or GMC Sierra. My sister has a Dodge Ram but I don't like the way it drives. My brother has Silverado (no cab) and I love it. Any opinions on which one has the best ride and will last forever (i.e., reliable engine, and no rusting - which I assume they all have rustguard protection now)? Of course price is always a factor, but I'm hoping for a used truck to save a few dollars. Last but not least, cab or no cab? Appreciate any guidance. Next step is to see what's available in the area. As you can tell, I'm a truck novice...

    Cab is what everyone is getting these days. And the extra room is nice. Guess it's what the market wants. You're right. And it's worth the extra dollars.
